The lab

We build intelligent machines.

Every one of them earns its place. This is the whole shelf: what is released, what is being built, what we tried, and what we have not answered yet.

Nothing here fits?

We build the products you need.

Most of what we make starts as somebody’s specific job, not as a line on a roadmap.

Everything we have, and how far along it is

One route, four positions on it. The further down you read, the less certain it is that the thing ever exists. Each shelf states what it takes to get on to it, so nothing can drift up a stage quietly.

  1. Released 2

In use at a real business.

    1. Site Assistant

      Released

Answers visitors only from what your own site says, with a link to the page; no language model answers them, and there is nothing to pay each time. In use on this site and on IAM Tech’s.

Not on sale yet. Ask us about it.

    2. Timesheet

      Released

Record the days you worked; get back a correct, sequentially numbered invoice as a PDF. In use at IAM Tech, the consultancy side of our company.

Not on sale to other businesses yet. Ask for early access and we will set you up first.

On this shelf when: It is in real use at a business, IAM Tech included. Not a demo.

  2. Now building 1

Committed to, being written, not finished. Dates when we have them.

    1. Worker Registry

      In build

One trustworthy record of everyone who works for you, including the people payroll never sees: contractors, temporary staff, agency workers, anyone moving between roles.

Not on sale yet. Pricing on request when it is.

On this shelf when: We have committed to finishing it and started writing it. A thing we intend to build is not on this shelf.

  3. Experiments 3

Built to answer one question. Some become products. Some answer the question and stop, which is a result too.

    1. A page that answers

      Running here

Can a website take an objective in plain words and show what it would build, without pretending to be a model? It is running on our own site.

    2. An agent that answers the phone

      Built, not on

It takes the call, asks what is needed, and texts the caller a link to book a time that suits them. Built and working; not switched on, because the telephony costs more per month than it currently saves.

    3. Invoice arithmetic, in the open

      Running here

Showing the working of a calculation as it happens, rather than presenting the total and asking to be trusted. It is on the Studio page, doing real sums.

On this shelf when: It exists, it runs, and there is exactly one question it was built to answer.

  4. Research 3

Questions we are working on and have not settled. No product attached to any of them yet, and there may never be.

    1. Can a tool explain itself well enough for an auditor?

      Open

Not “show the data”: show the reasoning, in a form somebody can disagree with six months later, when the person who ran it has left.

    2. How small can a useful tool be?

      Open

Every product we have built got smaller between the first sketch and the thing people use. We do not yet know where that bottoms out.

    3. What does a review gate cost in practice?

      Open

Our products propose and wait for a person. That is the right default. We want to know exactly what it costs in time, so we can say so rather than assume it is free.

On this shelf when: We have hit the question more than once in real work and have not settled it. Nothing is built.

Two more things we do

Neither is a subscription, so neither sits on a shelf above.

The ground underneath

Cybersecurity

Years of identity and access work inside regulated businesses. It is where we came from, and why every product above proposes rather than acts, shows its working, and leaves a record behind.

Built the same way

Websites

Built like the products: no template, no page builder, no forty scripts loading before your first sentence appears. This site is one. So is IAM Tech’s.

What you will not find here

Nothing listed before it works.

A roadmap is not a product and a waiting list is not a track record. Every row above carries its real state, including the experiment we built and did not switch on.
